    What do you think?
    the site
I'm making this site for my middle school, I'm in grade 7 there.
Note that I havn't put images or the menu in yet. (i'm going to put a div pulldown for the menu but i'm having problems with the javascript...)
so... what do you think of the layout, colours etc..
NOTE: it screws up in netscape-mozilla-firebird-gecko

The layout isn't bad, it's very simple. The green is a little bright, and the white links are hard to see on the green background. Some images would definately help. Also, I would leave your links underlined all the time, most people look for underlined text to find links. Changing this could confuse some people.

I highly dislike your choice of colors. Although having the whole page in one screen is very nice. Alternativly to leaving the underlined links, change the color from the normal text. Make it stand out. Best of luck.

Layout?! What layout? This is a site made for 2 mins without any graphical layout at all. No images and I hate this green background. I never thought this is a school website. Redesign it and this time:

    - put some images (school type)
    - make it bigger (it's not a portfolio or a site that should be small)
    - put some news and navigational buttons won't hurt

    Good Luck!

    thanks for the suggetions.
this is the the first draft, I didnt put to much detail so I cauld get input early on. I'm going to put in the nav soon. I need to keep the site SUPER small (almost no images) because our school computers are crap!
note: the school became a middle school this year so we don't have a logo, typeface, even newsletter!

Ok little man. You are definitely not an artist because the color choice is incorrect, unless the school's colors are those exact colors (ugh). If they are, I recommend using them VERY sparingly in your design. also, not too many people use windows 2000 on the average parent computer (btw your standards are what everyone here uses for static sites). your layout looks like a cms layout which you are most likely incapable of making at this time based on your experience. One reccomendation for you, is to drop the print button and the arrows because you do not need such for a school website. hmmm, schools don't have related links either. Finally, images are necessary in order to seel the school. A school website is supposed to be designed for the parents to grab their interest and want to send their students their.

    Code look over:
    - divs? why are you using divs for a table layout?
    - your code is from dreamweaver, i bet you also have fireworks given that you most likely have been "sharing" make those graphics.

    - Finally, I highly recommend that you don't try to make a site for your school. As soon as you tell them what you are making, they will probably line up a pro web designer noticing how out of date their web site is and they will rather pay then let a student design the site.

    edit:
    if this is your school:
    http://www.sd61.bc.ca/school/arbutus/
They say it is under construction.
    Cheers, zionlocke :chinese:
