It's still got a way to go so and I've not done much eye candy for it so there isn't much to go on but what is your overall impression?

    Couple of specific questions:

    Is there too much grey?
Will the rotating sphere get on your nerves after a while or is it subtle enough?

It's not bad. It could maybe do with being a but more original, at the moment it looks like quite a few other sites. It needs some work, but it's pretty gud.

Cheers - hopefully as more of the site gets built I'll be able to add some tweaks to personalize it.

i dont like the thing you've put between the nav and content, the blue things

and when the sphere starts again it jumps a little

but on the whole it's pretty nice.

The jump is not really noticable and yes, it will get more personalized as it goes on.

The sphere is actual images of the sun (somewhat modified) over the course of 3 weeks or so. Sadly it doesn't match up due to lateral movement over the couse of an orbit by SoHo. I've done the best I can but alas there is still a small jump.

I like it alot. Its got nice shades of blue, and its simple and easy to get around. No real criticizing I can do. YOur not bombarded with packages right when you visit, pop ups, banners, or prices in big bold letters, or the people with the big stupid smiles on their face cause they got a hosting account. lol.

I like it. It's clean and tidy. It is easy for the visitor to use which is also a good thing. It's simple but effective and will work well for a hosting company homepage.

Nice effect (the globe that is).
In IE (my computer maybe?) the sun spins smoothly the first 2-3 seconds, then it slows down and moves in incremental jerks.

Maybe a yellow (contra blue) sun would make a nice contrast to the blue background?
I know it would logically "collide" with the Blue Lobster name, but then again there aren't any intuitive bond between Sun and Lobster. :cheeky:

Is this BTW the CMS you have designed/built from scratch?

I might give the yellow sun a go - see if it adds a bit of contrast.

This isn't the CMS yet. Hopefully it will be included but that's been shelved for the time being. I just had too many things on the go and that lost out.

The sun skips a bit once every ten seconds or so - it may have still been loading when it went jerky. It's still a bit big (~120kb) I've got to crunch it some more.
