Putting Good Friday hols to good use, and ignoring the fact that it was a beautiful day outside, Jen (helped by moi) got her 29 pages rehashed and up on the server...

Triumphant, but wired on coffee, we'd like any feedback please.

She chickened out on the CSS buttons thing, since she's scared they won't look the same on all platforms. (Is that true?).

But the new nav buttons are only 1k each, as opposed to 4k previously, so it's a big improvement anyway.

Obviously, this is not an ideal way of doing things (rehashing a design when there are lots of pages) but you live and learn, as we kept telling ourselves.

So, what's anyone think? Would it be worthwhile at a later stage swapping out the button images for CSS?

    The new stuff is at:
    http://www.algarve-beach-life.com

While a (copy) page in the previous 'format' is at:
    http://www.algarve-beach-life.com/old-style.html

We're exhausted, but the fellas have promised to take us out for a drink tonight, by way of celebration.

And, does anyone know an easy way to do that rollover effect thingie? (On the nav buttons).

    Thanks

    sara

...the best tutorials for learning CSS. I know because that's the application I learnt it on.
Thanks for that, ceetee. (And for the table tip).

What with CSS and all the other stuff we need to learn, it's going to be a long summer... :bandit:

BTW, I read something recently that CSS isn't compatible with some browsers. Doesn't that make it dangerous to your site's health???

Who said anything about CSS in my post? Just put the table that holds the text with about 10px of padding and that should sort it.

Agreed, nobody (especially you, will7) mentioned anything about CSS in your post.

to take control of backgrounds you need to use cascading style sheets or CSS
That was ceetee, that was. :cheeky:

Would that work if the Google ads table was within a table? And which table should the padding be applied to?

Sorry if I'm being thick, I've tried to stop, but I can't...

You need to apply the padding to the table holding the main text :lick:

I think I'm confuzzling everybody now even more :nervous: so I have attached 2 attachments to show better what I mean. (Remember, no CSS necessary).

I hope this helps you, please tell me if it does/doesn't, and if it doesn't then I will explain further.

Thanks for the trouble with the pics, will7.

Unfortunately, the Google ads are in a table that's within a cell of another table, not as per your pic.

My attachment might show you (I hope, what I mean). Or would your suggestion still work even then? :tired:

In that case apply the padding to the cell in of the google ads table. Should work.

    I think you're overrating our speed, will7.

Jennifer's planning a holiday to get more Algarve Beach Life photos, and I'm taking the opportunity to work on my own first site.

I'll let you know, though, and thanks again... :-)
