    Experimental Website

When designing this site I was thinking about targeting the more artist side of web design instead of my usual usability approach on site design. The site is far from being finished, but I thought that this might be a good time to see what people think. (Personally, Iím not so sure about it)

Well besides most of the images looking like there is too much compression applied to them, it does not look bad. Just clean up the images.

do you mean the website screenshots or the site itself? Maybe both?

Im talking about the artifacting you see around the leaves, along the edges, and just all over the site. The screenshots look ok, but they could use some application of unsharp mask. The whole site looks like a overly compressed jpg. It really gives the site a muddy look. Its a good concept, and I would love to see in a higher quality.

Way ahead of you on the unsharpen mask. Did the homepage site screenshots, much better. Will continue to work on the rest of the site. I just didn't want to put to much time into this site if it wasn't really going to work out for me.

i really like it! it's different and very artistic like you said. not many of us (web designers) mame our business site like that. good job.

i have to agree with glyakk on the images... notably your top/banner one
    http://www.artmediadesigns.com/image...esliced_01.jpg

there seems to be some weird things going on. for example where the "Altered Impressions..." is... just above the letters, it's jagged or some fuzziness there?! is that part the whole artistic thing? it looks weird to me.

also... the menu is not very clear. might want to tone down (lighten) that part of the background?

    really good start tho!

I like it too. I can't see the jaggedness the others mentioned (unless you've fixed it, as I see their posts were 4 days ago).

My only (minor) beef is that it doesn't quite fit the height of my browser page without scrolling (Netscape 7.1 btw).

Love it otherwise. More pleasing to the eye than most things I see on the Net (including, unfortunately, all my own efforts).

Loaded instantly on 512K connection. Your footer image looks 'too' compressed to be honest. It is a nice concept .

    Thanks for all your input

Unfortunetly if I don't compression the images as much as I have, the site will suffer from a slow download. I've been working on another design that I think will be much better and will not suffer the same type of problems.

    To Be Continued...
