A new client wants a sample done.

The thing is that their logo is 'Linda Hunt Antiques'in yellow in ARIAL BOLD on a navy background!

Ive tried about 5 designs so far but just cant seem to impliment this stupid STUPID logo, and the colour scheme is a nightmare!

Any samples of sites that have this colour scheme? I have to stick with this colour scheme.

Also, theres not much text to go on the site so i have to fill up the space somehow!

    Thanks

Time to put on your creative hat. These are the projects I like the most. Because restrictions seem to always bring out the best work. However they are always the most difficult.

Humm.. Navy and yellow.. those colors seem to be too vivid to say antique shop.. Does she just like those colors, or is there a deeper meaning? Maybe you can dull them down a bit? Or use them only as an accent?

Cant think of any sites at the moment that use that color.

That's where Pornoshop can do wonders. Take their logo and apply about 4 or 5 filters and layer effects to it (TV scan lines, emboss the text, gradient fills, etc.) and you'll probably end up with some other shades you can work with. Do the best you can with it and the layout.

Then come up with an entirely different layout the way you think it should look. Present both to the client. If you do this right, they'll pick the latter option, and you look like a genius. If not, they'll pick the other option and you'll still look like a genius. Give people options and they'll pick one. Give them yes and no and they'll pick no.

    Thanks, heres a basic layout...

    Thanks all.

I know, blue and yellow for an antique store?! And the font is awful too for that type of biz!

Im really stumped at the moment. Usually I always have a design or two in mind but using a navy background and those colours, oh and that logo(!) is gonna be hard to pull off!

Have a look at a very BASIC layout Im currently working on. Ignore the weird image in the centre of the page as its only there to fill up some space!

PLEASE HAVE A LOOK AND HELP ME!

It's not a weird image. It's just broken. Not bad overall though.

you don't have to use simple yellow and navy.

for example: i've made a site for a AAA soccer team. their colors are yellow and blue - www.fcoutaouais.qc.ca - i kept the site simple with white and light grey. same deal with - www.centremultisport.qc.ca - their colors are "gold" and navy... did the same thing with them

*edit* i forgot... there's also this one - www.arso.qc.ca - that uses yellow and navy... i've put much more colors on that one

I know the colours etc arent very 'antique shop' but its the best i can at the moment, hmm, i might get started on another sample tho...
