    Ok, previous problem fixed.

    Now, however, when looking at a category page where there are multiple posts, the sidebar aligns itself with the bottom post rather than the top post.

    I am completely baffled by this - I am willing to bet the solution is unbelievably easy but not to my eyes.

    Any solutions?

    It's simple really. You have all of your posts in divs floating left, then you put your sidebar at the end and floated it right.

    The navigation is going to vertically align to the last item that is floated. Wrap all of your posts in 1 containing div with the navigation outside of the container, and float that containing div left.

    <div id="content">
    Put posts in here and float content left. make sure to set a width to avoid cross-browser issues.
    </div>
    <div id="sidebar">
    Your sidebar will remain floated right.
    </div>
