    Hi John,

    I suppose the basics are pretty obvious:

    1) Keep the software up to date at all times
    2) Strong admin passwords
    3) Dont use 'admin' or 'administrator' as your username
    4) Add an extra layer of password security by password protecting the entire admin directory with htaccess.

    Other stuff that can be done:

    1) Add a IP whitelist, so only your IP can access the admin areas
    2) On wordpress, put empty index.html files in every single directory to prevent people seeing what files you've got in there. OR disable directory listings via a htaccess file

    Here's a WordPress specific change. In the header you'll see this:

    HTML Code:
    <meta name=”generator” content=”WordPress <?php   bloginfo(’version’); ?>” /> <!-– leave this for stats please   -->
    Delete it.

    It lets people see what version you are running, which you never want. On phpBB, remove all version references from the frontend too.

    Hope this helps
