My WordPress site is REALLY SLOW!!!

THe forum part of the site is good enough, but the Wordpress part takes like 10 seconds to load the Dashboard, and even when not logged in as admin it is very slow. And my .htaccess file is slow...like it takes a second (a long time) to redirect to the /wp/ directory.

I'm not gonnna post a link unless you need it. I have the "w3 total cache" plugin it barely made it faster.

Anybody have some ideas on speeding it up?

    Could be a host issue.

    Well let's see...

site is hosted in NY... you in Calif... could be any one of about 200 routers that is having a problem... or perhaps your ISP's cache has gotten corrupt... and it takes a while to clear up...

linux server with only 94 other host... don't think it's a hosting issue... but then again... any of the other 94 sites could have been causing some heavy loading on the servers... doubt it since I've seen apache handle thousands of sites with no issues...

could be the connector to the " MySQL DB" which is internal ( normally ) was saturated... and that should be on a 30 minute cache dump... you just never know

at 7:00 PM EST... it loads plenty fast from the East Coast
if you're on a windows box... you can do a tracert to the site... make note of the response times on the route...

when it slows down... repeat... you'll see where your bottleneck is happening... if the route changes... then perhaps they were having issues and forced a re-route to fix the problem...

    Actually, it's pretty crappy....

you should almost always see response times in the <30ms on everything up to the backbone(hop 4 on your trace )...

40's and 50's are not bad....

anything over 70's is slow... and especially if you have more than a couple > 70....

    you have the last 8 > 90....

keep an eye on it... you'll notice much better response times when it drops to the 40's or 50's...

not much you can do, but possibly report it... but most ISP's will respond with a bunch of garbage... that they are either working to resolve the issue... or that the issue is on a part of the network that is out of their control... in your case... possibly true

hope it get's better for you...

BTW... My trace showed 13 hops with no hop > 43ms... ( from the east coast )... sorry not going to post it here... didn't expect you to post your's...
