Hi, I want to build an ecommmerce site (on wordpress) can anyone tell me what the best (free or near enough) ecommerce system there is to use. I need to be able to have multiple images per product, shipping, paypal payment gateway and i need to be able to have options for my products(eg. sizes, colours)

    Thanks

    I use WP a lot, but for e-commerce I wouldn't use it.
There are a lot of good shopping cart software options - most webhosts offer one or more for free. Maybe you should check into that.

Blatant plug. But saw the post and wanted to throw our hat into the WordPress eCommerce ring. My guys and I just finisedh about a year of bashing our heads off the walls trying to integrate WordPress with osCommerce.

200 gallons of Red Bull later, it is complete and was released last week.

Wont post URL obviously but it can be found on WordPress site and also Google under WP Online Store.

Would love other webmasters feedback on it.

    Cheers

I have recently bought the Tribulant Shopping Cart Plug-in. It costs $50 for a single liscence and once I had tried it out, I got the unlimited liscence with refund for the original purchase. I chose this plug-in because I wanted to be able to have an easy way of useing independant gateways. Most free plug-ins like eshop and wp-cart use paypal or google checkout only. The plugin I bought was affordable and it can use authorize.net, firstdata and at least 7 other gateway providers. I liked that you can use a grid view for products too. I have just started with a German E-commerce site and the plug-in has several languages already inlcuded.

I tried Joomla, Zen-cart and oscommerce briefly before. My thought is- if it is confusing to me how is a customer going to work it?
