    I can't seem to get the callto tel: function to work on iphone

    I have a client his website is 1234insurance dot com and for some reason the hyperlink tel: isn't working. I havent really learned how to edit themes yet I know there is a callto function when I got to editor and select header.php its the phone number in the header in blue letters.

    In the theme it shows
    }
    $(document).ready(function() {
    $('a[href*="callto"]').each(function(){
    call_href = $(this).attr('href');
    if(isiPhone()){
    call_href = call_href.replace('callto://','tel:');
    $(this).attr('href',call_href);
    }
    });

    When I do this for customers who don't use worpdress I just simply use the tel:1-555-5555 and it works.

    The theme is called Ifeature by the way.

    can I take out the callto function and rewrite with just tel:? Because when I hover over it it says callto: is this easy to rewrite and also can I edit the theme file itselfor no?

    That may help you. My guess, though, is it's because the phone number is stored in an image as opposed to plain text.

    I don't believe so because I put the link on images on non wordpress websites and it works fine

    I don't put anything on a Phone Number other than "proper formatting"... and safari and iPhone turn it into the "click to call"... safari on iPhone 3 and above recognize the XXX-XXX-XXXX format, nothing else works, I see people using all kinds of formats for phone numbers and they just don't work.

    This only works on iPhones and the newest version of Android OS.

    Thanks for your response, so I guess its safe to say that there is no proper way to do it to satisfy all versions then. What about the If and And statements

    If Iphone 3g use tel: or something of that nature

    I'd try the microformat myself. It doesn't take much to add it, and it might work. I wouldn't know, though, as I refuse to have anything to do with Apple products.

    Dude, he's in insurance. That means two things:

    1) He expects everyone to do everything for him.
    2) He will offer none of the same in return.

    That's how insurance works...it's a one-way street.
