I have notice recently that server response times on this site are getting longer and longer especially at certain times of the day (09:00 - 11:00 gmt+2) and server timeouts are getting in the way of the usability of the forum. There may be a number of reasons for this of course, but to use a venacular expression from my part of the world it definitely needs a coat of looking at.

It's shared hosting, so another account on the same server is likely causing the problems.

A little trick: you can check the server load averages at To view the link you have to Register .

Server load averages. Anything above 5 for this server is not desirable.

As when I last viewed the page, it was ascending from left to right, coincidence?

I haven't been around recently enough to specify particular hours in which the problem is the worst, but I have noticed slow response times a lot. Sometimes pages will take as much as 20 seconds to load. It's not the end of the world, but it is irritating.

Does the site not bring in enough traffic to consider going to a virtual server or a dedicated host?

It's been bad today for some reason. If it keeps up, I'll ask my host to move the site to another shared server which is the current remedy. It's not cost-efficient yet to switch to dedicated.
