Hey I have a site for my videos powered by Wordpress, but I thought it would be cool to have permalinks like youtube, how do I do that?

E.G: To view the link you have to Register

If there is no way, is there a way to simply make the default post ID longer.

E.G: http:/mysite.com/4578325

Use an htaccess file to rewrite the query. use a sql database with php code that selects * from tablename where id = $_GET['id']

the url would be yourdomain.com/?id=######
it would change into yourdomain.com/######
and it would show the information from that id in the database along with any other data you put in the table. * means get ALL the data instead of just the id.

hope this makes sense. Its very general.

I misread.

For wordpress, set the site to not show the category in the url. And you can edit the uri part. if your blog urls point to the root, then just put the id number as the url when you write the post.

Doing it automatically, you may be able to find a simple wordpress plugin that overrides how permalinks are created. Use the add new plugin search feature within your wordpress admin.
