At one point, blogs were nothing more than diaries, where people would ***** about their problems. I should know, I was one of those people. Of course, the difference is that you keep your diary hidden, while everybody can read your blog. For this reason, very few people were willing to start up their own blogs. However, it seems like all I ever read on Facebook bitching and complaining.

Why do people ***** and complain on Facebook, instead of starting up their own personal blogs?

Well, if people whined and complained on a blog, then no one would read it. Whereas with whining on Facebook their peers are more likely to read it and offer comments of sympathy or agreement to further encourage their narcissism.

I do that. I admit it. Why do I do it?

    1) My tinfoil hat. I'm watched by others. I actually know who they are and why, too. It doesn't bother me. I don't live in fear. But I like for the people who watch and read my Facebook account looking for information on what I'm doing to think I'm miserable when I'm not. So it's a red herring.

    2) Facebook by its very nature is miserable. It's a site most people don't even want to use but won't switch away from because they're "comfortable with it" and because a better alternative hasn't yet arisen.

    3) I hate the Big Brother nature of Facebook. I'm on there out of necessity, and in order to keep my account because they "suspected it was fake" (BS!) I had to scan in my driver's license. So I'm not giving them legitimate content to help them grow themselves.

    4) 1 in every 10 Facebook users are apparently fake accounts.

The writers on that site are mildly idiotic, but they managed to get this one right.

    5) Facebook is at the precipice of its downslope.

So in the long run, and probably even the medium run, the time and effort people are spending "marketing on Facebook" is going to stop working. I personally give it 18 months to two years before we're all talking about Facebook in the "what the hell happened to it?" sense.

    6) I haven't developed a blog platform for myself yet, and I refuse to use Wordpress.
