Apologies in advance if the terminology is not quite right here.

I'm trying to figure out how to effect that 'Read More' expansion link you find in web pages where there's too much text for the table, and the user can see the continuation of the text by clicking on the link but is NOT moved on to a separate new page.

I'm currently using an old version of Dreamweaver on Mac but it's more than I need and I'm thinking of simplifying the process by switching to something like Rapidweaver, Freeway etc or one of the other WYSIWYG editors.

To evaluate how useful they are to me, however, I need to know if they can do this. My pages are relatively simple, light on graphics, but need the ability on occasion to include extra text.

Any help or advice very gratefully received!

Most WYSIWYG editors can't do the accordion thing, or if they do, they don't do it well. although I use Nnotepad ++ for editing, I do have Dreamweaver CS4, and tried it out to see the results - it adds so much code that it becomes very difficult to edit should you need to.

If you're looking for a new editor - try using a code editor like Notepad++ - a free download and does everything DW does in code view - just no WYSIWYG.

Then do a search for "accordion tabs" and you'll see there are a bunch of good sites to show you how, many with downloadable code.

Thanks for this. I'll check those options out. And thanks most of all for giving the creature a name :)

You're very welcome - I know what you mean about names - it's heard to search without them! I'm taking a class right now and have to remember the names of events, selectors, values, etc and where each is to be used...

I'm intrigued to know what the site's about - I hope you'll keep us posted as you go along, and if you have more questions, we're here!
